Seminole Ramlin's

April 18, 2010

The Baker Co. Bass Club with 25 boats stayed at Wingate’s Lodge this past week and fished 12 noon Friday to 7pm, safe daylite Sat. to 3pm. The results was: 1st Place Iverman and Wignall with 40.04 lbs. and Big Fish 7.81 lbs., 2nd Place Davis and Hall with 37.29 lbs. and 3rd Place Anderson and Taylor with 30.69 lbs. This was a good group and an old club that comes once a year. Several lost big fish and some had engine and stump problems.

The Media Bass Trail fished out of Wingate’s on Saturday with 1st place going to Drew Benton and Ralph Mosley with 18.85 lbs. and Big Fish 4.5 lbs., 2nd place went to Bobby Smith and Lindsey Page with 15.83 lbs. All these fish were caught with the water slowly falling, beats me why it has to fall continuously.

This week we have had Shellcracker and Crappie bedding in the same water. This is not unusual here in Seminole. The water in the Flint is colder now than that in the Chattahoochee. Our bass on the Flint is slowly coming off the beds and those on the “Hootch” are bedding to beat the band. Especially in the sandy areas. The giant lilly pads are a good bet now. You put on a floating green frog in the pads, work it slowly and dang if you won’t loose it to him or have a wall hanger.

Young Miss Emilee Straughn, she’s from Chattahoochee and 7 years old, took a 4 lbs. Bass on a Watermelon worm with her dad, Cliff.

Buddy Akens has had a run on Crappie at the Faceville Landing. He’s had a limit 3 days in a row on Minnows. Some limit catches has been made on Jigs late evening, also however, Minnows seem to be the best for big slabs.

I must remind you that sunup and sundown fishing is real good now. One lady took 17 on a Blue Back Crazy Shad. They’ll eat the paint off of it she says.

The Shellcracker Tournament over a Big Jim’s is coming up soon and the FLW Tournament will come the last of the month along with River Daze later on.

Allen Carter showed me a neet treat on patio muskiters. Take old kerosene lamps, pour out k-oil and replace with “Oil of Citronile”, lite the lamp and watch the skeeters leave.

Eddie Ditto won the TriStates Bass Clubs fish out on Lake Talquin Saterday with 13 lbs. of Bass.
