When Pam Martin-Wells was told she had won a place at the Bassmaster Classic at Birmingham next February, here is the statement she gave, “It’s not, in my mind, a male vs. female thing. I want to compete, to help grow the sport for men and women. If one person – a man, woman or child, can see me on that stage and say, ‘I can do that too’, if it prompts one person to get outdoors, then part of my job’s complete.”
Last Thursday was the anniversary of “The Wall Street Crash of ’29.” Everyone blamed Hoover for the crash & depression. The sack of Bull Durham was called “Hoover Dust”, “Hoover Gravy”, white meat was “Cincinnati Goose” and Fords were “Tin Lizzies.”
Mr. Hoover had tried to get the Congress to pass the Farm Stableization Bill. That let the farmer plant, cultivate, gather and move the product to receiving points. He’s paid. They never would see the wisdom in that. Fort Rucker (the bear farm) and the Little Grand Canyon at Lumpkin, GA. All the Give – A – Way Programs of Mr. Roosevelt didn’t stop the depression, but World War 2 did.
Them Hybrids has done come alive again, one boat had 30 Hybrids and some Bass up to 6 lbs. They were taken on Eppinger 204 Daredevil Imps.
Another boat was taken Crappie on Jigs when all of a sudden a Hybrid took his jig and left with it all, rite down to the reel and roped it off, hook and line trailing that hybrid.
Richard Predmore, fishen the St. Johns River caught an 18 inch Flounder, 60 miles from saltwater using a Crank Bait.
Steve Holt, of Colquitt, sed this recession is worse than a devorce. You have lost half of what you got and still got your wife!
The Fishermen for the Hungry blasted out of Wingate’s at safe daylite on Saterday and came to the scales at 3pm. This group has raised $11,500,000 worth of food since 1999. They had 5 catches of fish over 16 lbs. and 2 over 19 lbs.
Bennie Hatton and son, Trent, won the most fish at 19.9 lbs., second place went to Shivel and Robenson with 19.62 lbs. They had Big Fish that weighed in at 7.46. Mr. Steve Holt and Tracy Edor came in 3rd with 16.8 lbs. This is a good group and had some of the best gifts you ever saw.
Trent Hatton, on the last cast, got took by a big fish and run off with all his string. Them Hybrids is tough. They have schooled this week from a Rattlesnake Point all the way to the mouth of Fish Pond Drain.
