Seminole Ramlin's

Please let me explain some of the things that I talk about in the report, when I say use a catalpa worm I don’t mean a hole catalpa worm, if he is small break him in half turn wrong side out, 2 baits for one, 2 or 3 inches long 4 baits, it’s the smell that attracks the fish. The crickets, if its common water that’s used often with bought crickets, fine, but if its off the beaten path; say pristine water, it would work better if you caught wild black crickets. The same goes with summer time crappie fishen, pot gut minnows caught wild in this lake will do better than commercial minnows, I could go on with live maggets, meal worms, wheat worms, oak worms, campor worms, pond worms, stink jims, etc.

Now I will try to explain “noodlin” here on Lake Seminole. Now I noodled when I was growing up in Rogers Pond, but then I married a young lady from Oklahoma and I saw how they noodle out there, while on a trip to Broken Bow. Them Scudders would git in the water, reach up into the holes, logs and rocks feeling with their hands, and they would come up with some awesome fish, now hear on Lake Seminole a man would be “a fool” to even get into the water with 4 ½ gaters to the acre and the logger head turtles weighin up to 200 lbs in here, besides the cotton mouths and copper heads. “Noodlin here is like using milk jugs.”

Thanks for your time.

Lake Seminole is in a fall turnover period, now this period normaly doesn’t occur until October or some years later, this is strange as it has just been released that the lake and ponds of the Dekota’s have produced more ducks by 48% than any year sence 1955 and I ask why are some trees turning brown all ready? Some flaming maples are red now, I’ve seen Japonese magnolia in bloom. There is a conection.

Just general information, the ’09 gator hunt in GA begins Sept 5 to Oct 4 with 115 permits for Baker, Decater, Grady, Miller, Mitchel and Seminole counties. That’s roughly 16 gators per county, lets see how many big mouth lizards is took, this season.

The weekly Thursday nite 7 to 10 tourament was taken by Nic Jeter/ Reid Heard with a bass at 6.75. #2 place was taken by Clint Brown/ Jerry Stevens at 6.04.

Glenn Skinner of Lakeland, GA took one at 8 ½ lbs on soft plastic, bass fishen in general has been off all week due I think for the lake to “turn over”.

Now bream and shellcrackers has been hot as a firecracker this week, the best catches were made by Allen Carter with granddaughter Brittny Calhoun, in their catches there was a 3 pounder all these were taken on wigglers, however on the other days he switched to cricketts and had limit catches on them.

We have just found out that the GA State record Striper set in 1967 by Ward Kelly, was broken by Terry McConnell, on April 3rd with one at 63 lbs. even. This was done on Richard B. Russell Lake on the Savannah River, don’t forget, you musn’t noodle Okla style in Seminole, use floats or jugs.
