“Tell St. Peter at the Golden Gate that I hate to make him wait, but I just got to have another cigarette”, I sang this old “Phil Harris” tune to her many times in the past years. I’m speaking of Pam Martin-Wells. She has been without a cigarette 5 weeks and Stephen 2 weeks. Last winter she could barely climb up her tree stand to shoot a deer. Now in 5 weeks she can walk a mile and back breathing through her nose.
The Jack Wingate Thursday Night Big Fish Tournament this past week was won by McIntosh and McIntosh with an 8.36 pounder, beating the old record of 8.26 lbs. held by Paul Tyre and Nic Jeter. Randy Weaver and daughter, Zoey, took second with a 7.18 pounder. Zoey is 9 years old and she liked fishen tournaments.
We have had a plumb solution of Hybreds taken this week on Jiggin Spoons, the biggest is 8.6 lbs.
The Catfish just don’t seem to let up biting. Three big messes were taken by Jim Hammond.
The Tallahassee Bass Anglers fished out of Wingate’s on Saterday. Don Gainie had Big Fish with a 7.26 pounder. Fred Jones was 2nd with 7 fish at 31.56 lbs., however, Dallas Johnson came in first with 7 at 31.91 lbs. It was so hot they lost a pile of fish.
Bream is still on beds and Crickets is the key to a good trip. May Flies are out by the ske-dalions. We look to a good summer from the Bream.
I remember one time I read that ole Ben Franklin sed, “Half a truth is often a great lie.” Fits today’s times.
