The open tournament of the ’09 Hungry Fisherman Series is over and some 45 boats fished out. The winners were 1st place Brock & Stevenson of Donalsonville and Marianna with most fish 25.66, 2nd place was Hamric & Hamric with 23.64 & big fish 7.96, third place was Richard Predmore and Shawn Neal with 23.38, they also had a 7.28 fish.
There was 22- 5 fish limits taken with 143 fish weighed in. 450.55 lbs of fish and only one fish died. The wind at weigh-in was 25 mph. It mite just interest you to know that 2 semi truck loads of fresh whole milk will be unloaded next Friday at the Fishermen for the Hungry warehouses!!!
Now, as to the Big Event down on the Harrris-Chain –O-Lakes near 400 anglers showed up for that event. Pam Martin-Wells placed 23rd and Mike Prindle placed 26th on the anglers side. On the co-anglers side, Lee Boutwell placed 14th and Stephen Wells, husband of Pam, placed 23rd, all of Bainbridge.
On further down on Okeechobee FLW held a 3 day affair with Lonnie O’Neal 28th for a 3 day total of 41.12. He’s of the O’Neal family restaurants in Tallahassee, Valdosta, Brunswick, etc. I’m sure he took home a fat check.
The catfish has done good on cut bait and live bait. Some 12 to 14 lbs. flatheads. Pat Cutright spent just a few minutes out on the lake on Sunday and caught a huge bass. Crappie has been active this week despite the wind and cold weather. One boat had a limit of perch taken on minnows, 2 limits taken at Faceville Landing, Colby Hatcher, Whigham & John Whitfield, Wisham took 39 specks on minnows, Brock Wells & Jake Jeter took 35 crappie on minnows, its been a very active weekend of fishen.
