Seminole Ramlin's

January 24, 2009

A friend of mine stopped by to see me Saterday to have lunch. He brought up an incedent that I hadn’t thought of in a long time. We were shooting doves on Preacher Hugh White’s place in Bettstown, southeast of Faceville. It was a peanut field and the doves were coming in really good. Well I winged one and he fluttered off into a briar patch. I started off in the briars to get him, maybe fifteen steps into the briars when a rattler sang at my right foot. I jumped up and shot him, one behind my right foot sounded and I shot him, then one up ahead of my right food sounded, I killed him, then one ahead of my left foot let loose and I took him, then behind my left foot, one sounded and I took to pergotory. I looked quickly and put more shells in my gun, stepping mighty high. I felt a stingin near my knee on my left leg and I sed, one of them bit me. So they met me coming out of the briar patch, he grabbed my pants leg, jerked it up and found a briar sticking in me from my jumping around so much. His name was John Purrington from Houston, TX.

Media Bass fished Lake Seminole, 1st place took 25 lbs., 2nd place took 20 lbs., 3rd place took 18 lbs. The winner had a 10 pounder. Mr. Merritt and Mr. Luke had 18 fish and one at 9 lbs., 10 oz., Big Fish.

Fishermen For The Hungry Bass Tournament will be held this Saterday out of Wingate’s Lunker Lodge. With duck season out this past Sunday, tournements will begin to take place most every weekend until the weather gets so hot the fish will die.

We have had several boats fishen for Crappie with the best one taking 50 at 30 feet deep on Minnows and Jigs. They were from near Destin.

Sorry, no photos this week.
