Hartwell,
GA, named after Mrs. Nancy Hart, a Revolutionary War hero. British
soldiers came to her house and demanded she fix a meal for them. She
and her daughter began cooking, the soldiers began drinking. They
began to brad about how they had killed her neighbor. As they
got drunker, she and her daughter slipped out there guns. As
soon as she got them just right, she shot 2 of them, killing one
and wounding anoth3er. She held the rest at gun point until
the militia got there. They wanted to take them out and shoot
them. She sed, “No they are going to be hung, shooting
is too good for them.” So they were taken out and hanged
including the wounded one. While they swung on they’re
ropes, she sang “Yankee Doodle”. Just a bit of
history.
Some
very nice catches of Perch was taken this week, however, our Saterdays
Tournament put the Bass in the driver’s seat as fish of the
week. What a messy day. 39 boats showed up to fish and
did they catch fish. It was pouring down as they left and let
a little and down it came at weigh-in time.
We
had 5 limits of fish with several catches of 4 fish, in fact the
heavy weight was only 4 fish. 1st Place went
to Smith and Hamric with 17.38 lbs., one was a good heavy fish full
of eggs. Tyndell & Tyndell had 2nd with 15.24 lbs. Cleghorn
took 3rd with 15.1 lbs. Ed Wilkerson had Big Fish with 8.6
lbs. Griffen and Griffen had a 6.75, a 6.00 and a 6.25, 3 over
5 lbs.
We
mite add that next Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saterday the Stren
Series will fish out of the Boat Basin in
Bainbridge. On Friday, the BASS Toyota Tundra Weekend Series
will meet at the Faceville Baptist Church to
draw for their launch out of Wingate’s Marina on
