I declare, Hollywood stars never cease to amaze me.  When Mr. Chavez wuz in New York, NY to address the United Nations, Morgan Freeman took Chavez down into Harlem and introduced him to the money men there.  Mr. Gere, another fine actor, visited Mr. Chavez in Venezuala and came back telling press how fine a President he was and how neat his country was.  All of these were highly covered by a positive press.

But, Denzel Washington, while in San Antonio, TX visiting a military hospital for veterans from the Gulf Wars and being patients there for a long time, he noticed apartment type buildings and wanted to know what they were for.  It was explained to him that families of the patients, mothers, fathers and children, could stay there at a very low fee and be with their loved ones.  He then asked for the total price for building one of the apartment buildings.  Given the price, Mr. Washington stopped and wrote out a check for the total amount and handed it over to the hospital.  Now his story did not make headlines or national news except the San Antonio newspaper.  And there he was doing something very nice for the American people?????  But then, Hollywood has always been a mystery but maybe that’s the way it’s suppose to be.

We hear tell that there was somewhere around 120,000 people to visit Mule Day, but there was only 194 mules for them to ride.

On last Tuesday the 6th, a heavy frost fell on us in lower Decatur County.  Two days short of my predicted 8th of November.

The 10th and 11th were Youth Duck Days in Georgia and we hear that they did very well here on Lake Seminole.  I declare, I think they all came to eat breakfast at Wingate’s after they hunted because we had a slew of them in there yesterday morning.  We heard that there was a lot of ducks killed.

All week long fairly decent Bass have been coming in.  A 7 & 5 lbs. were brought in using diving baits.

The Dunellen Bass Club had a 2 day tournement with the results as follows:  1st Place – Mike Phillips with 34.04 lbs., 2nd Place – Doug Shumate with 15.31 lbs. and 3rd Place – Craig Spiznogle with 11.70 lbs.  Mike Phillips had the Big Fish with a 7.3 pounder.

The Moody Air Force Base’s Bass Club fished out of Wingate’s this weekend, but we didn’t get any results from them.

Perch Fishing has been fairly good all week on Minnows.  Bream were not so good but fairly good loads of Catfish came in.
