My goodness how the deep woods has come to life, the sweet smell of the wild yeller Jasmine, the wild Plum and the Crabapple just makes for a fine walk in the woods.  And just think in bout 60 to 90 days, vine ripe tomatoes.

This has been a week for the Bass, they have come up shallow to a pre-spawn day or two & then straight on to the beds.  There is bedding fish in most every part of the lake.  There seems to be no end to them.  One boat reported a 6 lb. male Bass with eyes as red as blood.

One sand bar produced 20 Bass in just one afternoon.  One lady near old as me caught her first Bass ever.  Now she’s ruint for life, her husband will not be able fish with the boys no more.

12 year old Mathew Contrell of MacClenny, FL took a 6 lbs. Bass off the gas dock.  You should have seen his face.  He was in the Baker Co. Bass Club with his dad.

Tom Ridley of the Valdosta Bass Club took their Big Fish – a four pounder.

The Butler Co. Greenville, AL club had a nice catch of fish the first day but failed the second.

The Niceville, FL club, John Langston & Jerry Hill had 5 fish at 24 lbs. to wind the 2 day event.

The Beaches Bass Club of Jacksonville Beach had a 4 fish limit at 13.2. lbs. with a 5 pounder as Big Fish.  That shows how good the Bass Fishen is here on the lake.

Now for the pole fishermen, there had been a lot of Bream and Shellcrackers taken on worms this week in many different places.  One don’t have to look too hard to find a gathering.

Then the Perch and Catfish has been a good thing this week.  Jigs and Minnows taken Perch like mad.  Jigs mostly.  One person took a limit 3 days on Jigs.  Lots of folks taken 15 to 20 a trip.

For those that like to know, the Big FLW this weekend on Lake Eufalla had 4 boats running 2 hours each way to Lake Seminole to fish bedding Bass.  It will be interesting to know how they make out Sunday afternoon, by the way, Dogwood is in full bloom, top water time.

The picture is of Matthew Contrell of MacClenny, FL with his 6 lb. Bass he caught off the gas dock at Wingates.
