Seminole Ramlin's June 3, 2007 The annual “June Bug” Kids tournament was held this past Saterday in a misting rain and near 70 kids with parents, to fish. It was just enough to make the knats go away, so it was rite comfortable. Age group 0-3 years: 1st Place Peyton Brown caught 9 fish, Age group 4-6 years: 1st Place Colby Whittaker caught 10 fish, Age group 7-9 years: 1st Place Mathew Tucker caught 13 fish and Age group 10-12 years: 1st Place Stennes Austinson caught 21 fish. All these were caught in 45 minutes. And everyone caught at least 1 fish. Very good I thought. These were all Catfish and were turned loose as they were caught. Many thanks to the sponsors who made this all possible, some of the biggest were: Wingate’s Lunker Lodge, Po Boy’s BBQ at Wingates, Sammy’s Bait and Tackle, Action Marine, Walmart and several others. The annual B.A.S.S. Kids Casting Contest was held after the Junebug by the Hydrilla Gnats Bass Club with the 10-12 year old category ending in a tie between Andrew Adams and Timothy Frazier and the 7-9 year old category being won by Casey Hyatt. These guys will go on to the state Casting Contest in Atlanta later on. The pole Fisherman has had a field day this week here on Seminole. A nice hatch of Willow Flies was the cause of it mostly. Limit catches of Bream was taken all week long on Crickets pitching along the banks outside the grass. One family reported 200 taken using only the Flie from the tree. Catfish showed up very good for some folks also. One boat reported 49 one day and 15 the next by noon when the wind blew them off. There has been fine catches of Specks (Crappies) made each day on Jigs, despite hi –winds. There are sheltered places one mite fish if he’s lucky to find them. The Lake City Bassmasters fished Seminole on Saturday out of Wingates. Dewey Moore had the most fish with 15.3 lbs. of Bass and Rick Raulerson had Big Fish with a fine 7.4 lbs. Bass. Again at 4pm it was a steady drizzle of rain. So all in all, despite the wind and smoke it’s been a good week for the fish catchen.
