Talk about cold, on February 13th, 1899 the temp in Tallahassee was -2°.  At the church steak supper Saterday nite, I stood outside bout 15 minutes and shook so bad I lost 3 lbs.  One of Miss Joyce’s pullets not yet used to laying eggs, layed the same egg 3 times due to the wind blowing so hard.  I noticed Sunday afternoon that she was facing the wind & laying them with ease.  It takes time for youngers to know which was wind blows.

We will have to talk about the fish of the week.  The will be how well the Perch has bit.

Last Monday a week ago, 2 limits of Perch was taken on Jigs alone, 5 ft. of water.  Same day Miss Betty Hobbs limited on Specks, one weighed 2 ¾ lbs., on Minnows in 6 ft. of water.  Thursday Jerry Jones took 20 that tipped the scales at 29 lbs.  We had another catch of 12 on Jigs in 6 ft. of water.  Mrs. Betty Hobbs took 13 on Jigs.  24 Specks taken on Minnows & Jigs combined.

That recount showed what took place in the wurst weather to be sure.  It shows that the Perch is there, it jist takes guts to face the weather.

We’d like to remind you again of the dedication of Jim Woodruff Dam on Friday, March 16th at 10:30am below the power house.  A time capsule will be sealed & one of the original turbins will be on display.

The Hydrilla Gnats fished their club tournament on Sunday out of Wingate’s.  Angelo Kounderakis took first, Paul Tyre took second and Mike Sloan took third.  Paul Tyre had Big Fish with at nice 6 pounder.

The picture is of Angelo (Andy) Kounderakis of Recovery, GA with his winning catch in the Hydrilla Gnats Club Tournament on Sunday at Wingate’s.
