Seminole Ramlin's

July 9, 2006

The best fishen news we’ve had roun here in-a-while is the fact that a new Georgia State Record Flat Head Catfish was taken from the Altamahaw River in Wayne Co., GA. Mr. Carl-Sawer landed him on a rod and reel. He tipped the scales at 83 lbs., 5 more than the old record. Wayne Co. has a bounty set up of 50,000.00 for the one that a bounty of 100,000.00 to any one who can beat the world’s record in Wayne Co. Over there they think the fishen industry is great.

On our local Lake here, there has been so many catches of Big Bream on Crickets that we cain’t count them. The Bream are even bigger than last year, so was the Shellcracker this year. Grass, Snails and Grass Shrimp make the difference. If you want to fish Seminole you go with someone that knows the grass and let him show you the tricks.

Speckle Perch continue to come in on Jigs here on the Lake. They seem to be found jist off the heavy grass over deep water 7 to 10 feet deep.

The summer heat has taken its tool on Bass. The clubs that fished this weekend had trouble getting hits. Here’s a tip that mite help. They are hitting in schools of Baby Needle Fish. The best catch we had was made by Mike Hendrix of Homerville, GA who won the Valdosta Bass Clubs Fish, 2 Fish 9.4lbs. one was a 7.4. Water on the Chattahoochee yesterday at 89° while on the Flint it was 83°.

Some reported deep Shellcracker beds but for the life of me I never saw one Shellcracker this week.

Goodniss grashus; figs is ripe, corn is in season, grapes are near ready, peas plentiful and okra is ready. Hard to stay put on a diet with all them temptations.

We look to a better week of fishen this week, so keep a tite line.

The picture is of Mike Hendrix of Homerville, GA with a nice Bass he caught this past weekend.
