Seminole Ramlin's July 30, 2006 Some
70 years ago when I was a young boy, we dreaded dog days, which comes
in July 28 & last till Sept. 5th. Among the many things that we
feared was, ground itch, sore eyes, mad dogs, mad foxes, coons, possums.
Clovetean salve was used on our eyes each morning to sofen the lids
so with warm water they could be prized open. Our bream has been, " Walkin Tall " as has our shellcracker. We have had cases where the bream would not take crickets but would eat a worm soon as it droped in a bed. One man reported he had caught " The Bigest Bream " ever on Lake Seminole. Three fingered bream is the best aveage fish over all, they all taste good fried up brown. We
still have had speckle perch hitting all week long on jigs, one boat
reported good catch on small jiggin spoons. Why in the heat of the summer
??. in
the 16 years of the Tri-states water wars, the Judge in Alabama at least
has made a stand, it may not be what we wanted to hear, but atleast
a stand. One mite say It's like mixen axel grease with sweet creem,
the axel grease dosen't suffer much but the sweet cream is ruint. For more of Jack's writing see his books, available only at Wingate's
