Seminole Ramlin's

February 26, 2006

I’ma riten this in a motel room in Orlando, FL where bouts close the Bassmaster Classic is taken place. Only the good Lord knows where bouts it’s at. But I’ll tell you this, there is settin in the Lakes here bout’s is Red Heads, Mallards and oo’dll’s of Coots. This don’t look good nor did the thunder and litening storm we had at Georgia Seminole Lake as I remind you agin, “Thunder in February means snow in March, I hope this don’t happen cause a bunch of folks has done set out tender Tomatoe Plants!!!

We understand that Roger Beaver and Sonny Reese of Dawson, GA won first place in the Fisherman for the Hungry Tournement held Saterday with 24.34 lbs. and a check for $2000 for their effert. Our own locals, Jim Merritt of Bainbridge and Marty Butler of Chattahoochee took second place with 21.84 lbs. and a check for $1000. Shane Bush from Graceville, FL and Craig Reynolds of Bonifay, FL took third place with a catch of 21.04 lbs., earning a check for $500.00. Morgan Spruill from Nashville, GA and Todd Buckham from Valdosta, GA took fourth place and Big Fish honors for the day. Their two checks totaled $950.00. Their winning weight was 19.72 lbs. with the kicker weighing in at an amazing 8.52 lbs. All in all, that tournement handed out $5950. They’ll be at Lake Eufala on March 18th.

At this time, I can only tell you that Rick Morris has 37.5 lbs. with Kevin Worth in 2nd with 35.9 lbs. Big Fish was caught by Preston Clark and weighed in at 11.5 lbs. I do know that a great Fisherman Known as Mike is so far behind that he’ll not make the cut and Kevin VanDam has made the cut and will fish tomorrow.

We in Decatur County are proud of our Riverfest each Spring where we honor a state in the union. Well, this year we are honoring the State of Maine and since this afternoon the Casting Kids Cast-Off was held and a young man from “Maine” won a $500 scholarship for his casting ability. And I would like to thank all the many sponsers for their contributions to the Casting Kids program. After all, they are the future of fishing along with the working class of folks. We hope to be home next week with a full lake report. Tite Lines???

The picture is of Jim Merritt of Bainbridge, GA and Marty Butler of Chattahoochee, FL, with their catch from Saterday’s Fishermen for the Hungry Tournament. Their catch caught them a prize of $1000.
