Seminole Ramlin's

December 31, 2006

I have been able to go on the Lake 3 times this past spring, but now that my nose has healed up I intend to put some time in this next spring.  My friend has brought me a hole passle of Sun Fly Crappie Jigs with every color you can think of.  I am all set to go.

We saw in the early morning mist Christmas morning ole Santa gittin outa the landing in shorts and sandels.  Hot wasn’t it.

In this past week, WFAX in Thomasville celebrated it’s 84th year in broadcast.  Quite a record.

Beginning last Wednesday, the Bass fishen has been very good and the Hybred & Stripers were hot below Jim Woodruff Dam.  One boat reported 12 Bass, 3 over 5 lbs.  They were Flippin.  Bass also hit below the Dam on Crank Baits.

A rite good mess of Perch was made on Jigs in shallow water.  These Perch are full of eggs.  January, February & March should be good Perch months.

One lady reported a good mess of Spotted Cats off her dock.

Jake the Wonder Dog is shown with a fine kill of Ringnecks and Canvasbacks.  Some Dog!  He belongs to longtimer Bill Estes who, along with a bunch of friends and family filled up the brick cabins this week.  We sure do enjoy that bunch.

A local hunter took an 8 point Buck this week.  I was able to have bout 8 lbs. of burger out of him for my own use as Chili base.  J.W. Goodman, 11 year old son of Wingate’s owner, Gale Goodman, got his first deer this week over in Florida.  He got his shirttale cut off week before last by Russell Smith at the Disabled Hunt so he was right proud.

We hope all had a good New Year’s dinner as we did here at Wingates, Hog Jowl, Blackeye Peas & Rice (Hoppin’ John) with Fried Taters & Gravy and Collards.

New Year’s Resolution, “That be a better man next year than I was this past.”

The picture is of Jake, the WonderDog with several Ringnecks and Canvasbacks taken by a group led by Bill Estes & Steve White from Atlanta.  They come down each year and bring Jake to bring their ducks back.
