Seminole Ramlin's

November 5, 2006

Two things that is affecting the Florida people that has taken place this week and we hope that the first takes place and may lend a helping hand to the Georgia Lake Folks. Florida D.N.R. will take the gaters “off” the endangered list because they cain’t afford to hire gator control people to answer all the calls they get to move all the unwanted gaters from swimming pools, backyards, front yards, car ports, and after they eat a pet. From now on the land owner, home owner, condo owner, and rancher will have to do his own gater extermination. So be it, the way it should be.

The next is the changing of the laws ruling the takin of different species of Saltwater fish in the Gulf. The big charter boats limits will not be effected, “But” the little 3, 4, or 5 passenger family boats is effected, they have only one or two fish to catch and their trip is over for the day. There is never a day when I travel 97 to Bainbridge and I don’t see 4 to 5 Saltwater 5-passenger boats going South to Panicea, Oklocknee River, St. Marks or Port St. Joe to fish, next year that will all change. A sorry spectackle in my book.

The Speckle Perch loaded up this week on Jigs and some fines ones on Minnows. The small ones are on the move to shallow water (2-4 foot deep), but the big ole gooduns are still in deep water (23 feet deep).

Now the Catfish is on the “up” list as many has been taken this week. Stink Bait and Chicken Livers will take you a good mess.

The Hydrilla Gnats Fundraiser Tournament was held Saterday with the following results. 1st place Troy Author and Pat Cutright with 21.91 lbs. of fine Bass. 2nd place was Sherry Boseman of Savannah, GA with 20.23. The father and son team of Jordon and Jordon with only 3 fish placed 3rd with 15.81 lbs. Lee Sholts had Big Fish at 6.89 lbs. They have a new mascot, Miss Hydrilla Queen.

Bainbridge Bass Club fished out also. Jason Callaway won it with 8.40 lbs. and Big Fish 4.47 lbs.

The picture is of Lucy Sloan, Miss Hydrilla Queen, of Recovery, GA at the weigh in of the Hydrilla Gnats Fall Fundraiser Tournament. She is the daughter of Mike and Beth Sloan, co-owners of Wingates.
