Seminole Ramlin's September 25, 2005
The whole week has been slow as to the amount of boat traffic we have had. I think that when Bow Season and Black Powder comes in, most folks park the boats till they get done with huntin. However, we’ve had fair reports from them that are still fishen both on Bass and Perch with Catfish a close third. One boat reported a 5 lb. Shoal Bass and a 7 lb. Black Bass with 10 others to boat. Other boats reporting limit catches of Perch. Some have had good luck on Catfish. We saw a 10 lb. Flat Head Catfish that had struck a hand sized Perch as the man was bringing it in and the Cat was hung on the Perches fins, not the hook and he very carefully worked him up and got the net under him. They had 30 to 35 hand sized Perch. Now that the Southern Dog Days are over, the song birds are beginning to sing again. They sound so good after a long shutdown. Some good things come out of the gov-mint and storms and some bad. We’ll try to list a few of them. We know that Carp was introduced by the gov-mint as a food fish, the hurricanes blew in the Cattle Birds, the “Cains” also blew in the Ring Neck Doves and that’s a good thing. They eat good and don’t migrate and raise fast. The Fire Aint come in on fruit to New Orleans and that Water Hycins was brought into this country as a pretty blue plant and some got loose. The Love-Bug is sed to be blown in on the hurricanes also. Now iffen we could, we could train the Love-Bugs to eat the Fire Aints, then turn on the Hydylia Knats that would be a good thing. Too many ifs in that case. The wind has not slowed down one little bit this whole week. It’s changed directions but not quit. Sorry, we don’t have any pictures, our computer is still giving us fits.
