Seminole Ramlin's October 2, 2005
We have been having to fish in little pods of fish about 10 feet down hanging over 16 feet of water. These pods of fish are about the size of a small pickup truck body and you must fish jigs slitely above them because they are looking up always. If by chance you hook one below the pod, he swims up to the pod and sets still, you don’t know you got’em until he’s gut hooked. Now a 1/32 Jig is the best if you can handle it instead of a 1/32 Jig Head. Mid week, Mike Sloan, one of the owners of Wingates, boated 6 Bass, one at 5 lbs. on a Skeeter Bug and had several more short blow ups in shallow grass. About the same time, Darrel Davis of Oklocknee boated 18 Bass on Zoom Speed Worms over lite grass. Charlie Hill of Recovery boated lots of Bass with a Limber Neck Spinner Bait. Then on Sunday, Mike took his son, Joey and his daughter Jeri, both 8 years old, out and that Jeri caught a right nice one. The Bacon County Bass Club fished out of Wingates this weekend with Greg Barnes first, Paul Gillis second, Kevin Fletcher third and Greg Barnes had Big Fish. The club comes to Wingates on Lake Seminole once a year to fish the grass. In this club there is a father named Kinlaw who has a son 13 years old that gets to fish with the club. He is in 3rd place in points for the year. He has a big Triton Boat with 125 Merc on the back. His name is Colt Kinlaw. You will hear his name before long in the winners circle of B.A.S.S.
The picture this week is of our own Jeri Dawn Sloan with a nice Bass she caught on Sunday while out fishing with her dad, Mike Sloan. For more of Jack's writing see his books, available only at Wingate's
