Seminole Ramlin's March 6, 2005 The Ohio folks left camp last Friday after a week of frost, ice and high winds. They say that’s the only way they get to fish this time of year. They left with grins on their faces as they had landed loads of Bass up to 8 lbs. and many in the 5 and 6 pound range. They left making reservations for next year. Mr. Bob Lyons of Piquin, OH had an 8.1 lbs. Bass and released her near her bed. On one trip this past week in a very sheltered place with warm water, 3 different size Bass frie was seen. The little black balls of minnows was Februarys hatch. The ¾ inch minnows would have been the warm weather in January, then the 1 ¾ inch minnows would have been the warm days in December. Nice thought to have that many Bass stacked up waiting to get out to deep water where the Shad is. Shad, Grass Shrimp, Snails and Baby Eels is the basic food chain for Lake Seminole. The Bainbridge Bass Club fished out on Lake Seminole with the results very good for the winner Andy Robins of Perry, FL with 19.2 lbs. with the Big Fish included a 6.66. A nice catch in anybodys water. Lloyd Tallant, good ole boy from Huntsville, TN developed the Floating Frog so as to fish the different grasses in that lake, has passed. However, before he passed, many different bait companies made this statement, “He opened up a new can of worms.” So many took the opertuneity to near copie his invention. The Ghost, the Skitter Frog, the Skitter Bug, no one yet has been able to make the Floating Frog or it’s close inventions to be water proof. No sir, bout ever 4 or 5 casts, one must hold it in his hand, squeeze out the water and then kast it out to get it to float. Otherwise, it is a sinking noodle. Some what as a Sinko or a Zoom Trick Worm. Turkey season in Georgia will come in on March 26th and last til May 15th. Three gobblers statewide and there is bills in the Georgia House to increase the limits again. We, who are of the military, greatly noted the story of Sgt. Alvin York of Tennessee who was a hell raiser before he found Georgia and his childhood sweetheart “Gracie”. The draft board called him and he went but was “agin” killin human beings. He was given leave to go home and sort out his feelings. This he did and come back with the belief that, in war, killin would be forgiven by the Almighty. He went to France with that belief. He, alone with a few “non coms”, surrounded 142 of the enemy and brung them to the American lines. He was the Hero for the USA, France and Italy. A ticker tape parade in his honor, he went home to Gracie and a farm for children and a church home. $250,000.00 was given to him and he gave it to the home for children. Then, would you believe the IRS lit in on him as a hawk on a setten hen. He and Gracie had to ask for donations to pay the bill. They died in near poverty in 1964. Nuff sed. The Specks did a good number this week. We have had very good ketches of Perch, ranging from ¾ pounds to 2 pounds and all of them ready to lay eggs. Randy Weaver will have a couple that he took on the net.
