Seminole Ramlin's January 23, 2005 While attending the Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquit, there was polititions, wantabe polititions, old polititions, old tird polititions, done swore in polititions and all the rest shaken hands like they wuz runnin for the fust time. The guest speaker, Mrs. Cathy Cox spoke on eddycation, she spoke true words of her own feelin, not like some pale face with split tounge mite have done years ago out west. She’s rite too, Georgia wuz in last place in S.A.T. scores. We clum up one, so Carolina is in last place now. While at the Chamber meeting I saw Mrs. Essie Waters, a spry 93 years of age, “never” drawed unemployment until now, when her unemployment ends her social security will kick in and take care of her. She won’t be happy setten down doing nuthin though, work is bread into some folks and bred out of others. Lots of excitement in downtown Recovery, GA Saterday, the Ameriquest Blimp come zippen rite threw town headen for Jacksonville I reckon. The Bobby Dews Tournement drew 56 boats for the best crowd ever to Mr. Dews tournement, which is dedicated to the Children’s Miracle Network. 26 lbs. of fish was laid on the scales by Mr. Jerry Simmons. Stevens and Johnson had Big Fish, a whopping 8 lbs. We at Wingates same day had a 9 pounder hit the dock. Again the $2.00 pass to launch your boat was needed. Last year, several folks had to pay $5.00 for not having it. I think it fair to traveling fisherman that the State of Florida charges a flat $5.00 fee to launch on their ramps. I paid $5.00 to put in and $5.00 to take out 25 years ago in Florida. One fisherman reports paying $40.00 to launch at a ramp he used. Another fisherman reported up at Eufala recently they ignored the launching fee sign and as the tournement was over and vehicles leaving at the gate the Alabama State Patrol hadem lined up given tickets. Pay the fees and don’t get caught in a squeeze play. Due to violent wind and weather, the Tri-States and the Rose City Tournements was canceled. – 19° chill factor, 30 mph wind, I think it was a wise choice. Sorry,
no pictures this week.
