Seminole Ramlin's August 14, 2005
This past Saterday morning the Flint fork of the Lake was within 5 inches of the flood of ’98. 9 gates were open on the dam letting water down the Appalach. The flood gauge at Blountstown was 5 inches over flood stage. The new storm comin in from the Southeast left the Corps with no way but more water downstream fast. Mr. Johnny Davis and his son, Clay Davis has scored big all week on Bass. Thursday evening they had several tournement size fish and 2 gooduns at 5 lbs. each. A few other catches of Bass was reported, most of the Bass came on Plastic and the Flukes is the best. I would like to take a small bit of space to remimber a fine true southern gentileman from up Atlanta way, Jack E. Patton who invented “Jacks Juice.” I bought from him in l981 with just a handshake. It’s still on the market and it does work. Along about Tuesday last week, the Perch took a liken to our Jigs and Minnows. They started to bite and bite like they wuz starving. One boat hit the dock with 62 Perch. From then on we have had Perch every day, some from the Creek and some from the Lower Flint. We then got work from Al Carter and Co. a local fisherman who had took 50 lbs. of dressed Catfish and 60 Big Red Breasted Bream. Later in the week, Nick Jeter and buddies took an awesome amount of Bream. Schooling Bass was caught in the Lake Friday, not bigguns but 2 lbs. or so. The fast moving water slows. Sorry, the computer is giving us trouble this week, so no pictures. For more of Jack's writing see his books, available only at Wingate's
