Seminole Ramlin's September 19, 2004 As my old cuzin Windy Wingate used to say, “Twert this way it would be some other way.” As per usual, he was right. Last Friday a pair of fishermen came off the Lake with a bird that couldn’t fly. They was concerned that it mite be a rare bird, and it was a rare bird for us up here. It was a young Forked Tail Kite. We called the DNR and they were after him in less than an hour. This was the day after the Hurricane of Pensacola. Someone sed he was happy one day in Pensacola and blowed up to Seminole over nite. We think we have troubles but look around you. In this line of thought, I think of the 75 year old man who went fishen last Tuesday. His wife called 911 and sed he hadn’t come home. He had a heart problem. He was soon found safe and unhurt. But think of Tuesday, Tuesday nite, Wednesday, Wednesday nite, Thursday, Thursday nite and til 5pm on Friday evening. The giant water lilies had trapped him in behind. He weathered that storm sittin’ in that boat by himself. Last Thursday at bout 2:10pm at Stone’s, 3 of them Secret Service Black Sedans with lites blinking and “Fog” horn sounding past me by. They had to be the President, Vice President, Secretary of State or the Secretary of Defense in one of them 3 cars. No body needs that bunch of security but them. If it had been the Governor, the State Patrol handles that. A man in Bainbridge tells me that he saw 7 young Turkeys jumping up picken Willow Flies off the bushes on the Flint last Saterday. I’ve only seen one Turkey but it proves my point that Willow Flies can feed most any wildlife. Some one sited a Bald Eagle setten in the road on 97 eaten road kill. That ain’t the normal thing for them to do. Bass Fishen has been slow for the most part. The Rose City Bass Club was won way up creek flipin a worm behind the Cypress trees in the upper end of Lake Decatur. In the 6 hour period they were up there, the creek muddied and rose 6 inches. The Madison County Bass Club fished out Saterday and 10 lbs. won that day but they had to fish Sunday also. About the same amount was caught Sunday, however, 2 limits wer caught Sunday and that’s a good sign. When the water settles, it will be Rattle Trap time on the Lake. No jokin about that. Bream are still locked on beds and I hope they stay put for the next month. I tare them up with my Fly Bug. Hunter Safety Course by Leisure Sports in Bainbridge will be held on September 25th – 29th.
