Seminole Ramlin's September 12, 2004 We folks who live in the state of Georgia are just naturally born sweet, so sez a person who knows honey. We produce 3 million pounds of honey from 52,000 beekeepers. We have more than 10 variations, but here is the most popular ones. Clover, Galberry, and Tupelo in the south, Iron Wood and Sour Wood in the north. To produce one pound of honey, bees may visit 3 million blossoms and travel up to 55,000 miles. The B.F.L. Tournement that was supposed to go out of the Boat Basin Park in Bainbridge had to be changed at the last minute to go out of Wingates Lodge due to the large amount of water hycins, logs and other things in the channel. Friday morning I took ole Red, my ’72 Ranger Boat up river as far as I could go and turned around at the bottom end of Hales Landing. That was as far as I could get up that way. The plants were so high they covered the buoys up. I was glad when I broke out of them at 310 below Stones. On that 8 or 10 mile run back to the boat shed I just missed 5 logs and several chunks of wood big as me. Ole Red weren’t hurt at all and nothin’ was frayed but my nerves. The B.F.L. was led early on my Mr. Steve Bushore, who lives right here on Lakeside Lane, but that lead quickly went away when the final tally sheet showed that Lonnie O’Neal from Valdosta took home a small washpot of cash and Mike Pitts from Bonifay, Florida took a slop jar of money home with him. Mr. O’Neal won the Boater side while Mr. Pitts won the No Boater side. Mr. O’Neal sez the trophy will ride on his truck dashboard and the money will go to paying his next year’s tournement dues. Mr. Pitts is building a new house in Chipley. His trophy will go on the mantle piece of the living room and the money will go to the chimney. The Bass Fishing has been tough these past 3 weeks. To show you that is true, the Bainbridge Bass Club fished Saterday the winner had 3.2 lbs. to win Most Fish and Big Fish. The Valdosta Christian Bass Club also fished out of Wingates Lodge on Saterday but they left before I could catch up with them. I think one of them had a rite good size Bass.
The picture is of Lonnie O'Neal, from Valdosta, GA on the left and Mike Pitts, from Bonifay, FL on the right with their winning checks from the B.F.L. Tournement.
