Seminole Ramlin's

September 5, 2004

Labor Day has past and lots of folks enjoyed a wonderful weekend while others had to on count of the storm. We think it mite be of interest to those who mite not know just who is given credit for starting Labor Day. He was “Pete McGuire” and was a paperboy at 11 years old the same day his father joined the Army for the War Between the States. He became a leader in the Labor Movement.

Another historical note for those who mite care, the pilgrims set sail for America on September 6, 1620.

It has been sed, by folks who know that the wild dog “coyote” that crossed the road with the grown turkey in its mouth never made it back across. An 18 wheeler gottem, not the big crooked tail cat I sed would gittem, anyway, he got got.

At this riten, “Sunday Evening”, I am unable to get all the perticklers on the new gator hunt coming up. I do have this, the sites that gators can be taken has increased from 13 to 40 sites and the total number of permits issued has increased from 180 to 300 permits. We mite get a few of the most aggressive lizards taken out this season.

The Dove shoots that we heard of produced some limit kills of birds for the shooters. This change in the season seems to be for the best.

Not in a lot of years have we seen Hybrids school in so many places as they are doing now. They were up and down the river channel from Faceville Landing to the Chattahoochee Park this past week. Some caught up to 6 lbs. One of the big ones, when caught, spit out a 6 inch Bass on the mans boat. Bigguns eaten little ones, it’s a hard world under the water.

Bass fishing remains to be slow for the Bass Fishermen, only once in a while does the Bass Man smile and say “I gottem,” with a thumbs up.

The Bream are still on the beds up and down from the landing. The bigger ones seem to be down the River from here, those seem to be shallow but close to plenny of deep water. We look for the Bream to continue to bed up until late October.

Sorry, I didn't get any pictures this week.
