Seminole Ramlin's

May 30, 2004

The tall tales department this week is 2 fold. One was a 27 inch Bass caught and released, unhurt, back into the waters of Lake Seminole. The other is 3 men from a local town was caught with 800 Shellcrackers in a Fla. lake. Dang, who wants to clean that many fish at one time?

A great man and wife team from Tifton came to Seminole, landing 23 Bass in one day with guide Randy Weaver. The lady caught the big one at 8.5 lbs. She also had the 7.8 lbs. and the 6.8. Acording to him, she may not get to come anymore.

Come last Tuesday, a boat came to lunch with 2 limits of Shellcrackers and went back to where they put in. Next day they caught 12 Crackers off the same bed. I tole them that all fish have tails and they swim off somers at times.

Hey now, you Fly Rod Fishermen, tis time and the bugs is out. May Bugs that is or “Willies” as us local folks call them. They bit the tail off of 5 of my bugs without me taken a fish. Smart fish and fast.

The 33rd Annual Buddy Bass Tournement is history now and gone. Lake Seminole has produced again. 8 fish limits over 20 lbs. The only other lake in the nation so good is at Huntsville, Ala. It’s full of grass too.

In 8th place, Pearson and Pearson of Columbus with 20.02 lbs. 7th place was Bush and Reynolds of Bonifay with 20.14 lbs. 6th place went to Brinson and Black of Bainbridge with 20.49 lbs. 5th place went to Jordan and Jordan of Bainbridge with 22.76 lbs. 4th place went to Howell and Roach of Tallahassee with 23.99 lbs. 3rd place went to Smith and Kirkland of Panama City with 24.99 lbs. They also had Big Fish, an 8.10 pounder who hit a Buzz Bait over grass. 2nd place went to Davis and Davis of Marianna with 25.73 lbs. 1st place went to Hamric and Hamric of Leesburg with 28.84 lbs. Hardly anyone had less than a 5 fish limit and all but 10 or 12 fish was released alive back in the river channels thanks to the efforts of the Bainbridge Bass Club and the Wingates release boat.
