Seminole Ramlin's May 2, 2004 The 130th running of the Kentucky Derby is not past with Smarty Jones winning the roses. That’s not as good of reading as the fact that Mrs. Pam Martin Wells led the WBFL in Arkansas the first day with 15 lbs. of fish, only to drop to 8th the second day, landing only one Bass. The Recovery Volunteer Fire Department last week, when called to find out about the fire, properly sed they was sure they could contain it but was having trouble finding it. It was a very thick smoke coming outta Fla. I think. Years back when Ross Allen was the World’s Best Snake Handler at Silver Springs, when bit he would beat a path up to Thomasville, GA for the best snake doctor to cure him. During these years, he sold a lady from Thomasville a chimpanzee. The lady taught the chimp to roll a bowling ball real good. She went on tour with the chimp, but while in New Jersey, the lady fell and landed on the chimps leg, breaking it. She canceled her tour and headed to Thomasville Animel Clinic run by Dr. Clanton. Doc Clanton was gone but a young vet named Dr. Maddox was there. Here was a broken bone in the leg of a very valuble animal. He then turned to the hospital staff in Thomasville for help. He got help, the chimp got well and went on to bowl on the Ed Sullivan Show, thanks to Dr. Maddox. The chimpanzee’s stage name was “Judy, the Rose City Bowling Champ.” The 36th annual “Carperee” was called after a few hours due to rain, wind and litening. It is rescheduled for June 12 and 13. The warm weather mite be better for the all nite shooters. However, while shooting, David Burke, II of Bruce, Fla. brought in a White Amour Carp that weighed 57.7 lbs., liking 9 oz. of winning our $100 had it been an official shoot. We heard a man say last week that he was thinking of paying cash for live Carp caught on hook and line to stock his pond. In England, fishen for Carp is real big bizness and there is 7 publications there dedicated to the Carp Fisherman. We know from the years we have been here that folks travel for miles to fish for big Catfish and they will here, one day. Now lets get down to the Shellcracker or redeemed Sunfish. There is a steady stream of them coming out of Lake Seminole. It sorta reminds you of the old West circling the wagons, as before the crack of dawn, they come from all directions and circle a bed. Lots of beds reported, but only one or two Bream beds. They will come on strong as soon as the Crackers weaken. The Bass is a good bet rite on, as the spring top water season begins, litening bugs we’ve seen and it’s reported a few Cataba worms seen on trees. May term of court sets in Decatur County this week. Most folks won’t be able to go Cracker fishen, Bream fishen or Bass fish. Sorry about that, but git to 70 and you git off duty. The annual “Non-political Barbecue” known as “The Blue Berry Patch” will be saddened by the loss of some of it’s oldest members. Lloyd Poitivent, Chenney Griffen, Pete Miller and a few more I can’t recall. My problem is C.R.S. amongst others. Sharp hooks and tite lines to you.
