Seminole Ramlin's

May 23, 2004

We met a great couple from Hackensack, NJ who had boated a couple of very fine Hybreds. One in the 12 lbs. class. I ask where Hackensack was, she sed next to Teaneck. Then a thought hit me that had been gone a long time. When the first ambasider reels first came to this country, a man named McKenny had the franchise on them. His office was in Teaneck, NJ and for years he had a lock on all the reels and parts in Teaneck, NJ.

Don Logston and Larry Dunn scored a hit on some real big fish. From 4’s and 8’s and near 20 of them. Mr. Dunn lives in upstate New York and was heading home and needed some for a family fish frie, he tookem.

Mick Radcliff held up a nice seven pounder for the camera before turning it back to the Seminole water.

Longtime Bass Fisherman, Eddie Ditto held up 4 biguns for me to snap. He is now with Tri-States Marine below Ocklocknee River Bridge on the US 90. He is a good fisherman for Big Fish, but he don’t fish in deer season.

This feller went to the doctor the other day. The doctor tole him to pull his bicept up as tite as he could, low and behold when he got it tite as he could, it was still hangen down under his arm. Gitten old ain’t for sissies he says.

We note with great interest that England and Australia have a new law that anyone caught with a pellet gun operated with a CO2 cartridge will be given a 10 year prison sentence. While we are on that subject, with the next elections coming up, please don’t vote for anyone who votes for gun control in any fashion.

Taging of the Big Flathead Catfish on the Appalachicola River has been completed. If one is caught, it should be reported to the Florida Game Wardens.

There has been 2 Black Bass to my knowledge here on the Lake. You should also report that to the Game Wardens.

Our great hopes of a Big Willow Fly Hatch has been drowned by the big afternoon rains. We hear however of Floating Hulls near the Coast Guard Station.

The Five Flags Bass Club from Pensacola brought 24 people to fish Lake Seminole and as per usual, the oldest man in the club, Tom Jordan, won the event on Saterday with 16.72 lbs. of Seminole Bass. He also had the Big Fish with 5.32 lbs. The Five Flags means that there has been 5 National Flags to fly over Pensacola. Keep a hook in the water.

We are saddened of the passing of Al Hubbard, one of fishings great reporters and writers. The fishen world and specially WBFL will miss him greatly.
