Seminole Ramlin's

March 28, 2004

When we think of the leaders of the Bass Fishing industrie, one must not forget the time and energy that “Bill Norton” gave to the industry. In the 1940’s he was pouring “Rubber” Worms for the Fishermen. In the 1950’s, he organized a company called “Catch-em-Quick”. It was the third Rubber Worm to be patented for Fishen. Mr. Norton and his son, Vern, formed “Sportsman’s Products” to sell the new baits.

The original worm was an earthworm looking worm with 3 hooks in it with a leader in front and a small Spinner. 80 million worms later, when he was 82 years old, Mr. Bill turned the company over to his son, Vern Norton, who later sold it to Johnson Wax, who was selling Spoons and Reels under their name. Mr. Bill has gone to the quiet, still pond in Heaven with his wife. Mr. Vern is in his 80’s and selling cars in Marion, Ind. Says he still fishes, and will never retire.

Well, what do you know, the Perch finely woke up. Mathew and Collies Presnell took a cooler of slabs on the 24th. Jim Johnson and Skylay Smith, a local boat, tore them Perch up. They showed us 8 of 38 they had in the cooler.

Mr. Smokie Wilson and kinfolks had 68 in a one hour trip Sunday. His son with his Pa-in-law had 40 in an hour. Russell Rodgers hit ‘em litely, no one will ever know just how many he caught. Many other catches were made. One of the Hot Spots is throuwing Jigs under the Docks. No matter what color. They are ready and waiting to go.

The Tri-States Trail out of Panama City fielded a 28 boat field. The results was great. 20 limits were on the scales at 3:30pm. 2nd Big Fish was Don Culverson with 6.6 lbs. 1st Big Fish was Terry Smith of Panama City with 7.93 lbs.

Pam and Steven Wells in 4th place with 20.20 lbs. were Fishen with Bailey, who caught 2 nice Bass. Terry Smith of Panama City had 20.30 lbs., Smith and Kirkland of PC had 20.52 lbs. took 2nd. Culverson and Alderman was the winner with 24.25 lbs. Some great catches of Bass to be sure.
