Seminole Ramlin's

March 14, 2004

Straight from the Grape-vine, the locks on the Jim Woodruff Dam will not be closing, the hours that you may go through the locks will be changing. Most likely 8 to 5 daylite. Then at any other time you wish to pass through the dam, a phone call to the power house will get you through in about an hour.

Then also on the same vine, came to me that the ban on drilling more irrigation wells for farming has, or is, going to be lifted. Looks like some folks in gov-mint is gittin the idea that we need water traffic, tourisam, manufacturing and farming in southwest GA, north FLA and east Alabama.

One hard way to clean up your boat is to back it in the water with the plug out. Some folks have to jump in the water to put the plug in no matter how cold it is.

Another Big Fish has been caught in the Chattahooche River system. This one on the Pataula Creek of Walter F. George. 140 lbs. of Flathead Catfish. Man that would be some kind of Catfish Fingers. We also note that Texas has another state record channel catfish. Folks love to fish for Catfish.

The Bass Fishermen have all had a fine time bringing in good Fish. It’s been a busy week for the landing. The weekend was just as busy too with many folks on the water.

Tony Gooding of Valdosta with his son landed and released 28 Bass Friday and Saturday. Charlie Whittle of Columbus landed a whopping Big 7.5 lb. Bass and she swam off. Toni Scott, a Tallahassee lass had a good ketch, also one goodin.

The Sunshine Bass Club of Tallahassee fished out with Doug Williams Landing 19.45 lbs. Newt Dunn was second with 17.94 and Clint Brown 3rd with 14.10.

The Specks did very well for a few folks on Friday and Saterday.

Saterday the 13th was our familys reunion on Crooked River just 6 miles north of Carrabelle, Fla. My aunt Sylphia celebrated her 98th birthday by eating ½ pint raw oysters, bowl of lima beans, pork chop dumplins and a taste or two of swamp cabbage.

We think the most best way for folks to live now days is to live in close hominy, “Grits that is”.
