Seminole Ramlin's June 6, 2004 Why this week if you want to know how mixed up our fishen wuz, you just think Specks biten Crickets in the middle of the day. Well they did, the folks at Port City Memorial put the cold steel to a box of Bream, Crackers and a multitude of Specks on Crickets. The Bainbridge Bass Club was fished on Saterday with Richard Predmore taken first after he had a line broke on a bigun. He had 12.28 lbs. Rodney Smith was second with 10.49 lbs. Bill Parmentier was 3rd with 7.37 lbs. Miss Pam Marten Wells fished the last of this years WBFL on the Coosa River and placed 3rd in the tournament and was 3 points out of first for Angler of the Year. As we say in the South, Oh Well! You ever seen a puppy in the water with 2 gators pointed at him? Well, it ain’t a good feeling and my hat’s off to the 2 Bass Fishermen who rescued him from the teeth of death. The Junebug Fishen Contest took First Place this weekend. What a great crowd of folks. Some 85 kids was registered for the contest and it was great. When the fishen was over, the kids took 75 fully rigged Cane Poles home with them. After the fishen, a kids casting contest took place by the rules of the Walmart casting contest for “Bass”. One of the top prize winners for the 6 and under group was from the Baptist Church in Bettstown. His name was Carlos Hernandez and he got a cash prize, a trophy and a heap of fishen prizes. In the 11 to 12 year old category, two girls, Hillary Barfield of Recovery, GA and Rebecca Day of Chipley, FL tied with 4 fish apiece. They showed them boys how to fish. So goes the 2004 Junebug Day. We’ll prepare for 200 next year. They ate 187 hotdogs. The month of June had 4 very important event dates in it for us to remember: The first was the Battle of Midway where we almost lost the farm, then the Normandy envasion of Europe and the death of one of our best peace-loving presidents, Ronald Reagan. He, like Jack Kennedy, was able to talk peace to the Russians when war would have been easier. Then we have on the 25th, the Battle of Little Big Horn, where Custer made 5 or 6 big mistakes that cost him his life and also the men that was with him. Many other things can be sed of him, but for the sake of peace, it’s better not sed. The St. Johns Bass Club fished out with the following results. Pat Lanier had 10 fish limit at 36.62 lbs. Dick Hulcher landed a nice 6 lbs. fish while here. This is the club that took up time and helped the great Peter “T”. Become the Bass Pro that he is today. The St. Augustine Bass Club fished out of Wingates this weekend with good results too.
