Seminole Ramlin's

July 25, 2004

The first time ever for Georgia, when Senate Bill 541 passed the “Sportsman Voter Registration Bill”. It requires all sellers of Hunting and Fishing Licenses to act as Voter Registration Sites. We also note that many good Bills are being passed to protect the gun owner from “Wackey” lawsuits in a great number of states. We also note that a National Rifle Event will be helt here in Bainbridge to raise money for that fine group. Mr. George Trulock is in charge. To donate, call 229-762-4678.

This past Monday started one of the best weeks of Top Water Action this Lake has seen in many a year. This 14 year old young man named Chris Taylor from Atlanta who is into Bass Fishen as anyone can be, landed 9 on top up to 7 ½ lbs. He released all of them. On Tuesday he boated 19, all on top from 10.2 lbs. down to 5 lbs., nuthin smaller. He also had a 9.3 in that group. Then on Wednesday, he only boated 9, but one of them was a 7.6 lbs. Bass. In all, he only kept the 10.2 to go in his den. His father don’t fish, nor his mother, but he loves it. I honestly believe if a 14 year old Marilyn Monroe walked by him fishen the pond he fishes in Atlanta, she wouldn’t even get a wink out of him.

We talked to Britney Calhoun, our 13 year old Bass Lady who received a handmade rod with her name on it, and she’s already got her ABU Garcia reel on the rod and ready to fish.

A gentleman from the campground caught 2 – 5lbs. Bass on a Big Muskie Jitterbug when one tore the rear hooks out of it. Big Fish is on the prowl in Lake Seminole.

Early Saterday morning a boater landed 11 Bass on a White Zoom Trick Worm. Nuthin over 4 lbs., but that was a good morning fishen for one person.

The Bream are on beds in many places on the lake. They are on to the crickets better than worms at this time. Some big old hand sized ones. They run ½ to ¾ pound apiece. The Willow Flies are out all the way to Jim Woodruff Dam. Very good Fly Fishen at this time.

Catfish will take the stink bait better than worms for the most part and the water needs to be moving for them to bite best.

I like the story of the US Soldier stationed in Iraq who got him a “Dear John” in the mail from his sweetheart who wanted her picture back for her wedding invitations. The soldier was just devastated. He went and talked to the Chaplin, who must have been a real live “Bubba” fore he got the call. The Chaplin went into the barracks and asked 200 soldiers for a picture of any girl they might have. Then he put them all in a shoebox with the “Dear John” picture with a note signed by the soldier saying, “Please pick out the one that is you and send the rest back.” I believe that preacher is on the right track.
