Seminole Ramlin's July 11, 2004 According to the gov-mint records, the flood sensors up Spring Creek was reporting more gallons per minute passing by them than was being released at the Lanier Dam above Atlanta. These high waters bring back sad memories of the Flood of ’94, ’98 and the 10 inch local rain in late ’98. The powers that be allowed some things in those times, that this scribler hopes won’t ever happen again. We were told to move out of Wingates and all of the 200 homers under the hill in Recovery. The flood water would be shoulder high in the café. With the help of the churches and local help, we moved up the hill. The Rent A Truck folks charged $1000.00 a day for a truck to move folks. Barber Fertilizer and Dollars loaned peanut trailers to folks to move in, no charge. Folks on fixed incomes just don’t have that much money laying around to use. It was great, we didn’t have a flood, but it was sad to have to pay for the moving out and back in. Hybrid Bass, horses, cows and dogs seem to be the going thing today. Hybrid corn, peanuts and cotton are also on the upswing in our area. We also have some hybrid gentlemen and ladies running for public offices. It might be good if all of them could hold an office, or at least have an input into the final say of things. Some are born to lead, some are born to follow, others must step out of the path of life or get stepped on. May the best person win. Sometimes the best person don’t win. In America, one should be able to celebrate and use whatever religion he likes and whatever political leader he wants without fear of trouble, honor whatever flag he likes and whatever leaders birthday he likes. It may sound strange to some but that’s America, I love it. Hybrid Bass has finely moved to center-stage on Seminole. We had lots of them taken this week. I was able to have a few slabs for me and Miss Joyce’s table. Some kind of good with fried taters and hushpuppies. Jigs and Spoons in certain places will do the trick. Flatheads and Channels were caught this week and by doggies, they dressed out good and were eaten by folks who know Catfish and were pronounced good. Bream came in in good quantities all week long. Some off beds and some along the grass walls, but a lot was taken Fly Fishen. Some of our folks went to Miccosuki to Fly Fish Sunday. There is some big Bream over there. Tri-States will fish Saterday at Wingates. Some good Bass bit for the most folks. The best was taken by Randy Hendon and his daughter from Valdosta, an 8 pounder. Sitten on the bed with Miss Joyce last night, we decided that the best part of life is living it.
