Seminole Ramlin's January 11, 2004 The wind has blowed so bad this passed week it’s a shame. One morning I had to sweetin my coffee fore daylite 3 times. It purly blowed the sweetining slam out of it. 03 is now gone and past. Another year is upon us. We hope the world knows now that when they rattle Uncle Sams chain, he will go to no end to put the boot where it needs to be. It sorta reminds me of a big ole Bo Coon we onct had up a tree that had broke off and left the stump about 7 or 8 ft up and sorta flat on top. The dog could not quite reach the coon as he would jump up to git him. Round and round the stump the ole dog would go, and round and round the coon would go. Tereckly that ole coon got enough of that and jumped on top of the dogs head and commenced to chew and claw the hounds head. We weren’t too far from a creek, so the hound took off to the creek to try , I reckon, to drown the coon. Tooreckly, the ole dog come back to us tail twixt his legs, bleeding from a hundred skin punctures. Uncle Sam means to git whatever rattled his chain. This week Andrew Jackson defeated the British at New Orleans in 1815. The British rattled Andrew Jackson chain at Warhow when he was young. He refused to shine a British officer’s boots, the officer him with the broad side of his sword and gave Jackson a scar that he carried to the grave. On Friday of this week, a Fisherman from Bass Island Campground here at Wingates landed only 3 fish, but he had an 8, a 7 and a 5 lbs. Bass. 20 lbs. in 3 Fish. Tony Adams of Tifton, GA also had a good day Saterday with one at 6 lbs. He was practicing for a tournament 2 weeks away. The Bobby Dews Tournement was held Saterday in the coldest weather to be sure with great success. The team of King and Harton was first with 24.68 and the Big Fish at 7.70 to take home the first prize. 2nd place was Kelly and Brock with 21.00, then Tucker and Tucker with 18.20. 16 limits of Fish was taken and not a dead fish to be seen anywhere. The 67 lbs. Blue Catfish caught below Columbia Dam this week is the Georgia State Record by over 4 lbs. It beat out the 62 lbs. Blue that Mr. Barbull caught out of Clarks Hill in 1979. We also had a report from Randy Weaver that he hooked a huge Catfish in the 100 lbs. range, got it up 3 times to look at it. After 2 hours and 15 minutes of fight, he lost him as he could not get him in the boat. Minnows are selling like mad but the Perch is slow, maybe soon we’ll see a pick up in the Perch.
