Seminole Ramlin's December 5, 2004 Quincey Phillips, Faceville native and life long friend of mine is in Bainbridge Memorial Hospital recovering from a broken hip. A spry 86 year old, I mite add, who was standing on his “old bucket of rust” when the Japanese planes flew beneath him on December 7, 1941. He is one of the few Pearl Harbor survivors left in America today. To show the wonderful place to live that we have near Wingates Lodge is a picture of pink grapefruit growing on the shores of Lake Seminole. They were set out by Mr. Brown some 10 years ago and just started to having these pink globes of natural sweetness on it. A great gift for the young men and young girls in your family this Christmas is a rod and reel combo. In ten minutes, you will have a kid who will stay with the cast or one who won’t. Then there is the new 410 lever action shotgun, that’s a great gun for a young person. Then for the man of the house is the laser attachments to the gun he mite already have. You just put the red dot where you want the bullet to go and squeeze the trigger, while we talk of guns, I must tell you of an all girls shooting team in Tennessee that is winning championship shooting matches with their rifles. They are winning beauty contests as well. They are sponserd in part by the shooting sports and gun manufactures. Go girls. Wingates had a great suprize this past week. The salesperson in charge of the national sales for Cabellos paid us a visit and she is a great person. She is featured in many of the tackle and sports wear in the catolog. We enjoyed her being here very much. The Perch fishing has been the talk of the landing this week. We have had lots of Perch caught this week, some at 6 to 8 feet and some on the Flint River bottom. All seem to be fat as butterballs. One man using Chartrusse Jigs sed he had to pick each one out of the Perches deep throat. There don’t seem to be no set pattern for them, the Flint is running real hard and is dingy. Bass remains slow except for the small ones. We sure hope it picks up soon, as there is a couple of big tournements for January. The picture is of the pink grapefruits I mentioned in the article.
