Seminole Ramlin's

August 22, 2004

The best thing this week that I know of for the workingman and the people of Southwest Georgia and Southeast Alabama is the fact that the 4-lane bridge over the Chattahoochee River twixt Saffold and Cedar Springs, Georgia is now underway. Pilings are being driven and silt screens are up. My thanks to Mr. Hugh Broom, Sr. for starting it 40 years ago, and to Mr. Hugh Broom, Jr., who managed to finish it.

The next best thing that I see is the signs I’m seeing. The Earth is beginning to cool down. Not to say we won’t have anymore hot days. We are seeing fall colors come on lots of different trees. The Dirt Daubing Swallows have hatched out and left. Big flights of Black Birds are in the air. Yellow Butterflies are on the Southeastward movement.

The main event that has helped everyone’s feelings is the Bream and Shellcrackers are locked on beds just as tite as a fiddle string. Loads of both type fish are coming in in coolers full.

One boat had 100 crackers of the hand-size breed when they came in to the dock. They were split 3 ways and most were consumed that night.

Larry Cantley and Larry Clemons of Bainbridge limited out Saterday on Specks from 8:00 to 11:00am, 60 good hand size Specks on a stringer. This makes 5 Saterdays in a row he’s called his shots and limited out.

Lonnie O’Neal and Bob Kenney of Valdosta, GA came to the dock with a rite remarkable string of fish. They had 22 lbs. of fish with a 7.9 kicker.

Kyle O’Lean and partner won the Tri-States last qualifying tournement before their classic. Aaron Richards and Wink Craig was second, Craig Reynolds and Shane Bush was 3rd. Mr. Aaron Richards had the Big Fish with a whopping 7.13 lbs. He’s from Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

Boat Races put on by the City of Chattahoochee and others below the Jim Woodruff Dam this past Saterday and Sunday had a whole lot of folks setten on the banks lookin’.

It has been very nice this week to set on the porch, rockin’ and meetin’ so many nice politicians. They are all good folks and they mean well and I think by next January the best man or lady will win. We wish them all the best of luck.
