Seminole Ramlin's

October 26, 2003

Well now, with 184 gator tags sold by the Georgia Gov-mint and only 64 criters took, seems like the week long school and the stiff regs that we had killed the spirit of the hunt. However, them 64 that was took was bout like pullin your handky outen your hip pocket so far as bigness of this lake is concerned. We’ll try agin next year and see what happens.

The grapevine says that its gonna take 1.6 billion dollars to clean up around Lake Okeechobee in Fla over the next 12 years to keep it from dieing. That’s a heap of scratch feed.

A local boy done done good on the fishen trail. Mr. Darrel Stewart just went up to Old Hickory in Nashville, Tenn and walked off with the B.F.L. Old Hickory Lake Tournement. Brand new Chevy Truck, Ranger boat and trailer with 225 Mercury and a Motor-guide Strollin Motor, what a good days work he had, and he’s use to shallow water grass and hedges and Old Hickory is in downtown Nashville. Jimmy Holt lives rite on top of the Lake on Brushie Drive, his face is on the “first” BassMaster Magazine ever printed. He’s still fishen and winning tournements.

We note that I.P. has 4100 acres of Santa Rosa Co., Fla that is up for sale. That land ain’t no good for growin trees or I.P. would not sell it, I think.

The gov-mint has done changed the time agin on us common folks this past Saterday nite. They is places in the USA whut don’t change, Arizona, HiWayia, a place in Indiana, Virgin Islands, Somoia, course, I don’t like the time changing but I ain’t bout to leave Recovery, GA for no furrin place.

Well the “Bainbridge Decatur Co. Chamber of Commerce” welcomed the “Fishers of Men” to the Bainbridge Boat Basin, thanks to Vanessa Arthur, this Friday and Saterday. That was a great group of folks to do biznis with. They tuck off at safe daylite with ¾ boats goin down stream, ¼ went toward Newton, GA up the Flint. At the end of the day, one Steve Stewart was leading with 14.95 lbs. However, at the end of the second day Barrett and Barrett team laid enough fish on the scales to bring them to 24.98 lbs. Then, low and behold, the team of Corn and Houge commenced to pull them goodins outa the sack and put enough on the scales to weigh 25.99. Well, we thought it were sowed up then, but here come Riddle and Metts with 26.84 to take home a 186 Triton with a 150 Mercury engine and a chance to fish for the National Champianship on Lake Sam Rayburn in Texas. That will be a fine prize ifen you win. I tolem at the weigh-in when they got to the lake, to go to Twin Dykes Marina, turn right and go to the Old Road Bed, throw a 500 series White Striped Bomber, wooden, not plastic. We will welcome these Fishers of Men on Jan. 30th for the GA Southern Division. May you all see tomorrow. Best wishes.

Doug Odam (in blue shirt) has limited every day in the last 6 tournaments

Barrett and Barrett at 24.98 lbs.

Gerald Weyitt brought in the big fish at 7.75 lbs.
