Seminole Ramlin's November 9, 2003
While settin, eatin and jawin at
about our 30th yearly Wild Duck Supper Saterday nite, prepared by Sammy
Griffin, even so, as the moon was in near Full Eclipse, a story told by
one of my long time friends jogged my feeble memory of an Eclipse of the
sun in the early 70’s. That day broke as quite and pretty as you’ll ever
see. Bout 10 am, the Eclipse began. The Lake was full of Fishermen. The
limit of Bass was 10 or 15, I don’t lackly remember. It got so dark the
nite lites come on and Miss Joyce’s Rhode Island Red Hens went to Roost,
for near an hour or so they set on the roost poles. Then the old Rooster
went to crowing and one by one the nite lites turnt off. The Bass and
Perch Fisherman caught Fish like mad (with 2 sun rises and two sunsets in
12 hours). Back then there was not hardly a blade of grass in the Lake.
Folks took fish home and et them. For them that don’t remember them days,
theys no way to tell you about how many Mallards, Pintails and Gadwalls
came to this Lake ever year. But course back then you had to break ice to
set your Decoys in the water. Times change, so must we.
This past Wednesday, the Bass’
attitude towards the Plastic Baits changed from dead to eatin it up. Mr.
Weaver had a great afternoon, Mr. Hill was also lucky, then next day
George Gallaway and Leon Roy IIII brought in a good stringer for pics and
then they were released.
