Seminole Ramlin's December 28, 2003
The subject was brung up at the coffee table tuther day bout what wuz the wust and meanest creature on the farm. Some sed boar hog, others sed stallion, others sed big brahma bull. Then one sed taint no such. Meanest thing on the farm was a rooster. “He mess’s with his daughter, mess’s with his sister, then his mama, whips his pa, his brother and his son and afterwards jumps on the fence and crows about it.” Yep, he’s a mean one all right. The light in a kids face when a single barrel shot gun is found under the tree is very rewarding, but when the same kid goes Duck Hunting and with the first shot downs a Mallard on the wing, that’s a site to remember. Man and wife setin in a boat crost-wise the channel, her ketchen Channel Cats, him ketchen Speckle Perch. Funny how that couple can do both in the same boat. She 12 Cats, him 25 Perch. Happy couple, just a fishen away. Talked to a feller near Sealys bout Bass he had 6 strikes on a Carolina Rig and boated 4. They all 4 was 3 to 4 lbs. Past Friday 2 men in the Flint took nine Bass all gooduns but 4 lbs the biggest wt. They went agin next day and only had 4 strikes and took all 4 of them. The lower Appalachacola is paying off in Bass and Big Bream and Shellcrackers. Some of the Crackers is so big you have to net them. We here in the Lake ain’t got that problem nowdays but it wont be long. The lower river is clear as Spring Creek. We took a 24 mile boat trip to Man Made Island to count boats and look at the water. 26 Perch boats and only 6 Bass boats on all that ridden. Them Bass and Perch is about to bust out bitten all over the Lake. Jist about time for the Bobby Dews Tournement over at the State Park first of January. Happy Holidays to all and be sure to keep a tite line.
